What does it mean to say Ani Ma'amin, "I believe"? Nearly 900 years ago, Maimonides (Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, also known as Rambam) outlined 13 principles he believed were essential to Jewish faith. Over the centuries, these principles have been celebrated, debated, and reimagined.
In this six-week course with Rabbi Rosenberg, we will study each of the 13 principles, exploring their original medieval context and their role in shaping Jewish thought. Together, we'll ask: How do these ideas speak to us today, in 2025? How do they resonate or clash with a Reform Jewish perspective, and with the broader values of modern Jewish life?
Through discussion, reflection, and accessible texts (in English, with Hebrew available), participants will gain both historical understanding and personal insight. By the end of the course, you'll have your own perspective on what it means to say Ani Ma'amin in our time.
